High Now Low Brown

The paintings and drawings in this exhibition are a continuation of my exploration, began over four years ago, of specific focus on the daily life of the stretch of the river Nore which is visible from my home on the Quayside of the river.

The paintings register the slow drift of daily and seasonal movement and chronicle the changing landscape and the effect of weather and changing climate on land and water.

The title poses as an observation on the water levels in the river which can go from very low to very high overnight and is a derivation of the well-known saying ‘how now brown cow’.
